Anthony Maintain’s career in hip hop began in Boston, MA, in 2006 with the release of the first album by his group, The Locksmiths, and continued as he relocated to Austin, TX, with his instrumental album, The Elephant Race (2013, Insect Records), with several releases and multiple tours scattered in between. After a nearly 6 year hiatus, Anthony Maintain reemerges from the deep woods of Maine with his first entirely self-produced rap album, Plugging Holes In The Same Leaky Boat. 

Maintain’s production utilizes tribal and glitchy percussion, deep bass, ambient crackles and textures, static and white noise, with haunting yet beautiful melodies, all coming together to create the perfect backdrop for his fluid and varying rap cadence. The overall lyrical theme of the album is that of a man trying to stay afloat, be it financially, in relationships and friendships, in a society that is crumbling around him, or in a music industry that thrives by pushing the artist into ever deepening waters. Featuring guest appearances from indie rap stalwarts Onry Ozzborn, BRZOWSKI, Bernichus, & Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice, plus road warrior trip-hop songstress Meganoke, Plugging Holes In The Same Leaky Boat is primed to put Anthony Maintain on a lot of people’s radars.
